Line of Business or LOB is merely a segmentation tool that usually goes across territories.  Usually, LOB's are already defined by business but if they are not....then simple ones which can provide insight into the dynamics of your marketplace or business objectives are usually most useful.  Like by product type or a collection of products.  A manufacturer might sell products, rent products, sell parts, service calls, OEM, etc. or revenue streams like one time sales, recurring sales, annunity streams, monthly rents, etc.

 

Once you determine what makes sense to you would create them in the LOB section of Sales Portal Administrative site and use them for later analysis or segmentation.
